Community Organizations

American Legion Post 56 was organized in February 1946 and permanently chartered later that July. The Post has been an active part of the community since then.  Current membership is 24 after a peak of 65 members in the 1960's.  Membership consists of Veterans from World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars.  Meetings are held at the Eagleville Community Center on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m.

The post sponsored the first Eagleville Fair and has been an active supporter since the early years; it has sponsored  school essay and poster contests for several years; presented  medallions for Americanism and provided scholarships for graduates; sponsored students to Missouri Boys State and Girls State; presented more than 30 Blue Star Banners to parents in honor of their loved ones serving in the military; as well as other activities.  For years the post sponsored the local Boy Scout troop.

All eligible Veterans are invited to join our post.  Officials may be contacted at 660-867-5454 or 660-867-5287.
